Lacey Cup 2019 Report
It was take 2 for the Lacey Cup today in Tralee, with a different route to Castleisland, Knocknagoshel to the finish at the top of Lyrecrompane.
In the main event of the A1/A2/A3 we had Barry Fitzgerald, Bernard Sweeney, Mike O Shea and Brendan O Sullivan. Unfortunately, the A3’s were caught in Castleisland by the A1/A2 group, which made their day a whole lot harder. However, all our men put in performances to be proud of and something they can take great encouragement from for the upcoming A3 races. Speedy recoveries to both Bernard and Barry who came down in a crash towards the end.
Well done also to Tadgh O Shea, who rides in the colours of Killarney Cycling Club, and put in a massive performance in his first adult race. Congratulations to Conor Kissane from our neighbours in Killarney on an excellent race win.
In the A4 race, our sole rider was Jason Costello. Two riders got away up the Castleisland bypass and were never seen again for the day. Jason managed to get into the next 12 man break, that worked very hard to stay away from the rest of the field and took the bunch sprint for a fantastic 3rd place finish.
